It takes a lot of experience to climb past a crux to place a piece of good gear. It then takes MORE experience to really understand the downside (pun intended) of pushing on past a crux in the hope of finding a good placement. It can be a downright religious experience (Please God, let there be a placement, c'mon God, please God..oh God, oh God, oh God, oh THANK YOU GOD!
